Aktive Minds Foundation was established in 2020 to provide families in the Detroit area with quality programs and resources, while actively working to eliminate barriers for youth participation and encouraging community engagement. The organization is led by members who were once in the shoes of those that they aim to serve. We are an organization dedicated to bringing value to every childhood, and support to every parent.

More parents are reporting that they have skipped out on after-school programs for their children. In 2014, 43% of parent claimed to not be able to afford programs. That number increased to 57% in 2020.

Not all families experience financial barriers. Facts show that youth programs are not as available as they once were. When asked, 43% of parents specified that their children were not enrolled in programs because they simply were not available in their communities. That number is up 14% from 2014.

Transportation
Transportation plays a major part in youth participation. In 2020, 53% of parents said that unsafe or unavailable transportation was the reason for their children's lack of participation in programs. This number is up from 39% in 2014.
