Community engagement is at the heart of Aktive Minds Foundation. With the help and collaborations of our local partners, we are able to stay involved and connected to the community.
JUST PLAY Saturdays
Summer 2020
JUST PLAY Saturdays was Aktive Minds Foundation’s very first community outreach initiative. Taking place in the Summer of 2020 at Johnston Park in Harper Woods, the hometown of founders merged with MADE Student Athletics and Black Bottom Athletics to bring a dynamic group of youth instructors to park for a play date. With the Covid-19 pandemic leaving a lot of children and families insolated and disconnected, JUST PLAY Saturdays was able to provide a safe, outdoor environment for the community to come together, connect, and just play! No worries. Just sunshine, snacks, and the freedom to have fun.
Aktive Minds Foundation is working on plans to bring the JUST PLAY format back in the Summer of 2022, bigger and better. This time we want to bring the WHOLE community out for a good ole play date in the park. Keep a look out.

Urban Roundball Classic
Summer 2021
Aktive Minds Foundation began joining forces with 180 Church in the Summer of 2021 to bring one of the biggest 3-on-3 basketball tournaments to the Detroit and Pontiac communities. This outdoor event featured food vendors, bounce house displays, video game trucks, and much more!
We don’t plan on stopping! The Urban Roundball Classic will be back this year, adding Flint to the line-up. Bring the family out to enjoy a fun filled summer day.

Hustle Harder Basketball Camp
Summer & Winter 2021
With the help of our sponsor Detroit Hustles Harder and partner Ball Playas, Aktive Minds Foundation was able to put on two 4-day basketball camps. Not only did the campers get qualified training for skill development, but instructors also helped them understand the idea that “Attitude is everything!”. Our signature camps were located in the University Liggett Schools’ state-of-the-art sports facility, the Boll Center Campus Fruehauf Gym. The camps served developing and elite youth basketball players, ages 8-14.
Catch the Hustle Harder Basketball Camp twice a year, every year! To get your young hoopers involved, check us out the last week of August and, again, during winter break. Come to ball!

Monroe Street Midway Day
Summer 2021
The Aktive Minds Foundation Basketball team took a trip downtown to the Monroe Street Midway, home of Detroit's outdoor skating rink and basketball courts. Food trucks were visited on our Beacon Park tour just outside the gates of the activities. Our organization connected with so many wonderful people in the city! We even got a chance to meet Phillip Simpson, creator of the Smile Brand and dedicated Monroe Street Midway artist. It was the perfect way to spend a summer day in Detroit.
